Disneyland 2014- Day 1

Let me start by saying that it has been a very long time since we took a vacation. Disneyland was an obvious choice for us because the boys are 2 and 4 years old....not good with road trips or long flights yet.  We stayed at the Grand Californian Hotel, a truly amazing hotel with a pretty standard room but you cannot beat the amenities or the closeness to the parks.  Overall the flight down to California went well, Sean as usual chatted it up with every person he saw. That is Sean and I absolutely love that about him. Because of his gift and knack for making contact with nearly everyone we saw we heard some cool stories and met some interesting people.  It is funny though that people react one of two ways: they are either totally intrigued by this young man and find it refreshing how social and interactive he is or they ignore (try to anyways!) him.  Anyways, back to it.  It was hot, like in the 100's during the first half of the week we were down there. While we were all in 'climate shock', it definitely hit the boys harder. We took advantage of getting ice water for free anywhere in Disney that had it.

First official Disneyland pic :) Frozen Lemonades!

We got a room with a queen bed and bunk beds, which had a pull-out trundle bed.

Not a bad view!! We requested a room that we could see World of Color from at night.  This is California Adventure Park, you can see Goofy's Sky School (one of Sean's favorite rides) and a bunch others like Mickey's Fun Wheel.

Quick snapshot of Taylor in the Dumbo Ride....he was so hot! We periodically split up and accomplished a lot that way, keeping it fun for both kids.  Just when Sean wanted to go on a ride that Taylor couldn't, rather than wait around for Ryan & Sean, I would take Taylor on a bunch of short lined rides like Dumbo, Teacups, the carousel, etc.

Last ride of our first day was It's a Small World.  Right before this we went on Pirate's...which Taylor thought was hysterical - laughing at everything scary and Sean...not so much.  On the flip side, Sean loved It's a Small World and Taylor was bored with it. They really could not be any different!

Sean's looking a little somber because he wanted to go home to sleep at night and then come back to Disneyland in the morning :( After the second night he started to understand, but it's hard when you're a kid adjusting to different sleeping arrangements! Taylor could obviously care less!

We loved all of the Fall and Halloween decorations!
